GOODWILL DONATES SCRUBS, UNIFORMS TO AREA NURSING HOME

IN THE NEWS

ASHTABULA, OH – June 1, 2020 – Goodwill Industries of Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania made a large donation of scrubs and uniforms to the Ashtabula Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

During the COVID-19 crisis, Goodwill stores and donation centers were forced to close. Since early May, select locations have reopened for donations and shopping.

“Despite being shutdown these past two months, Goodwill has continued to support the community,” explained CEO Phil Johnston. “During this difficult time, we weren’t able to provide many of our traditional outreach services, but this was a wonderful way to help our community and our community’s front-line workers.”

Hundreds of donated scrubs and uniforms were gathered from area Goodwill stores, laundered and then delivered to Ashtabula Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Rotary Club of Ashtabula donated funds for the sanitizing and laundering.

“This was a perfect example of our community coming together to help one another,” said Ashtabula County Commissioner Casey Kozlowski, who serves as a member of Goodwill’s Board of Directors. “From the community members who graciously donated these items, to Goodwill and our local Rotary who worked to organize this project, to the frontline medical professionals who are serving our most precious citizens; sometimes a crisis can bring out the good in us all.”

Goodwill will continue to work with area partners to find ways to collaborate and help the community through this crisis and beyond.

“We have been blessed by a community that embraces our mission and continues to support Goodwill by donating and shopping,” added Ron Wilkinson, Goodwill Board President. “Just like other businesses and non-profits, we will continue to rebuild and support others.”
